The right path here is the measured one — blend, adjust, and take your time. Temperance shows an angel pouring water between two cups, mixing opposites into something whole. This is the card of moderation and patience, of finding the middle way between extremes rather than swinging from one to the other. It asks you to combine what seems incompatible — work and rest, heart and head, two people, two ideas — into a calm, sustainable flow. Healing comes slowly and steadily. Trust the process and let things come into balance at their own pace.
Something has tipped out of balance. Reversed, Temperance can point to excess, impatience, or a life running at extremes — too much of one thing, not enough of another. It may show up as friction between people who are not blending well, or an inner restlessness that will not let things settle. Return to moderation. Find where you have overcommitted or overindulged, and gently pour some back until the flow evens out again.
Symbolism & imagery
A winged angel stands with one foot on land and one in water, pouring liquid between two cups in an impossible, endless flow. A path leads to a crown of light on the horizon — balance as the road to something higher.
