A beginning is asking you to trust it before you can see where it leads. The Fool steps off the cliff with everything and nothing — open, unburdened, and willing to be surprised. This is the energy of a fresh start, of following curiosity rather than a plan. You are being invited to say yes without needing every guarantee first. Approach what is ahead with a beginner’s heart: less certainty, more wonder. The risk is real, but so is the aliveness that only comes from moving toward the unknown.
The leap is being held back — either by fear that keeps you frozen at the edge, or by a carelessness that skips the thinking a real leap deserves. Reversed, The Fool asks which one is yours. If you are hesitating, notice how much of the danger is imagined. If you are rushing, slow down enough to look before you jump. This is a moment to reclaim your judgment without losing your openness.
Symbolism & imagery
A young traveler steps toward a cliff edge, eyes on the sky, a white rose of innocence in hand and a small dog leaping at their heels — instinct urging caution. The white sun behind them lights the whole scene: a journey blessed at its start.
