Stop. You need rest, and this is your permission to take it. The Four of Swords shows a knight lying in repose atop a tomb, three swords on the wall and one beneath him, at peace in the stillness. This is the card of recovery and quiet: a deliberate pause to heal, recharge, and let your mind settle after strain or conflict. It is not defeat — it is the wisdom of stepping back before you break. Withdraw for a while. Sleep, reflect, tend to yourself, and let the stillness restore you before you pick the swords back up.
The rest is either being resisted or forced upon you. Reversed, the Four of Swords can mean burnout from refusing to slow down, restlessness that will not let you recover, or a body finally demanding the break your mind kept postponing. It can also signal a reawakening — the rest is done, and it is time to reengage. Listen to what you actually need. If you are exhausted, stop before you are forced to; if you are restored, rise and return to the world.
